On August 7, 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City, representatives of the Institute for Studies in International Education and Economics (ISIEE) participated in the International English Language Teaching (ELT) Leadership Conference hosted by Macmillan Education Asia. The event brought together educational leaders from across Southeast Asia, centering on the key theme: “English as a Medium of Instruction: Rethinking English in Education (EMI).”
This theme is especially relevant in the current context, as Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) is actively promoting the use of English as a second language in schools, in line with Government Resolution No. 51/NQ-CP on the fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training. Discussions at the conference highlighted the pressing need to internationalize curricula and to boldly adopt English as the official medium of instruction for academic subjects, aiming to enhance the quality of education in Vietnam to meet international standards.
These directions are fully aligned with the mission that ISIEE is committed to pursuing. Through initiatives such as the OMO model – a blended learning approach combining online and in-person teaching – ISIEE enables native English-speaking teachers to reach classrooms across the country, providing students with access to international-standard language education. Additionally, ISIEE promotes the UK Double Degree Programs for colleges and universities in Vietnam, further supporting global integration in higher education.
